Story Decorating Group is celebrating after lifting 4 major awards at the annual Painting and Decorating Association Awards, held recently in London. The Carlisle based company had been shortlisted in no fewer than 5 categories at the Industry Oscars and beat off stiff competition from 50 shortlisted entries from England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Amongst the Projects Very Highly Commended was Whitehaven Market Hall, described as ‘A first class decorating job’ and ‘Difficult to fault’ by the judges who visited the site earlier this year.
The restoration of the prestigious Wiltons Music Hall in London to its former glory was Highly Commended in the Highly Decorative category with the refurbishments of Audi Carlisle and Crown Packaging also taking major honours.
Owner and Managing Director Robert Story was delighted with the firm's success which coincides with a record order book and a recruitment drive which is expected to add a further 20 local jobs taking his workforce in 2016 to more than 60 employees.
‘To be recognised in 4 major categories is particularly pleasing as it reflects the wide range of skills and quality of work that our customers now demand’. He added, ‘ In recent weeks we have secured more than £1.5million of new Contracts - including the new Dumfries and Galloway Hospital as well as the new Workington Academy.
He added, ‘Customers are increasingly looking for quality and value and awards like these - judged by our peers, certainly adds re-assurance to their decision making.’ I’m also pleased that we’re creating more jobs locally and we’re actively recruiting now to further strengthen our workforce’.
