Annandale Water Service Station

PROJECT DETAILS:

This service station services both carriageways of the M74 Motorway and is a very busy place! The project was originally only meant to be a small job, but the client requested more work to be carried out by Colonial Construction which included upping the decoration scope 10 fold!

The Story team were asked to carry out the Internal & external decoration and could have only achieved completion due to the positive relationship our team had with the client. Many meetings took place to arrange works around the existing facilities’ opening hours & we had to ensure we worked collaboratively with them to ensure there was no disruption caused during the works. We overcame this by working a variety of shifts when these parts of the service area were closed (nightshifts& weekends). The relationship between our site supervisor, the main contractor and the client was fantastic this was achieved by making sure he was always on hand to keep them both up to date with how works were progressing & where we would be at the end of each shift. He also ensured we left working areas tidy & clean during & after work intervals.

The project was not without its difficulties which included internally painting the large wooden ceiling which we overcame by utilising STAR10 MEWPS due to the difficulty to access the areas at height. Externally we also had heights to scale but again overcame the problem of the high-level works by using a large cherry picker to reach awkward areas that required painted.

Health and safety was of paramount importance on this project as the service area was still operational at the time of decoration. The external works were especially challenging with it being such a busy area. We overcame this by ensuring barriers & signage were in place & we also had a banksman on the floor at all times ensuring the public were safe and the machines were safely manoeuvred.

The main contractor & the client were over the moon with the end product which brought a tired looking old service station up to date with a sleek new look using Zinsser and PPG Products!
